John has been playing drums for over 30 years. John spent the nineties and naughties playing, touring and recording. From Kilkenny, John began teaching drums at the age of 21 while working in Essaness Music Kilkenny. During this time he worked as a session drummer, while also playing as part of the orchestra in the Watergate Theatre Kilkenny.

John has also appeared on RTE and BBC television programs.

Having studied drums in Trinity College London John has continued his pursuit of knowledge and education by studying with some of the worlds leading educators such as Claus Hessler, Chad Wackerman, Mark Kelso, and Chris Coleman, to name but a few. John opened Rhythm Drum School in Athenry Galway in 2013. Since then John has grown the school to a point where it has achieved international recognition. So much so that John has created an annual international event - The Galway Drum Show which brings the international drummers to Galway every year for this boutique festival of all thing drums.
