Rhythm Drum School offers fun yet concise drum lessons for beginners, during which students get behind a drum kit during their very first lesson. This gives each student the chance to learn from the get go how to play the drums and to be confident doing it. Through private drum lessons, all students will learn introductory rudiments to drum fills and of course solos, not to mention the option to take Grade exams if the student so wishes.
We have been teaching drum lessons to kids and adults for many years and some of our past students have gone on to study music in third level and even more continue their musical journey playing in bands. We are very proud that they got their very first taste of performance here in Rhythm Drum School.
INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED
When a student progresses beyond beginner drum lessons, they will move to intermediate and on to advanced drum lessons putting them on the path to master their instrument. During weekly private lessons we will guide students through advanced drumming techniques. We follow in the footsteps
of the pioneers of drumming, studying some of the classic texts such as 'Stick Control' and 'Accents and Rebounds',
by Sanford Moller. 'Advanced techniques for the modern drummer', by Jim Chapin. 'The New Breed' by Gary Chester and 'Syncopation' by Ted Reed.
An example of some modern text books we use are 'Rhythmic Illusions' by Gavin Harrison, 'Open Handed Playing' by Claus Hessler and 'Keeping the drummer occupied' by Conor Guilfoyle.
Advanced drum lessons, also follow the Trinity College Syllabus, and includes preparation for twice yearly graded exams following on to diploma level.
